Leicester Forest East is perhaps best known as an M1 service area, although the services aren’t directly accessible from the village. Leicester Forest East is a village approximately 3 miles west of Leicester. At the beginning of the 20th century it comprised 18 houses and 3 farms but has significantly grown since then, with the motorway effectively cutting the village in half. Leicester Forest East is the newest Parish in Blaby, created in 1986, after previously being part of Kirby Muxloe Parish.
Leicester Forest East’s Annual Gala and village show started to celebrate the Millennium and is now an annual event, usually in September. Leicester Forest East has a post office, local shops and garages plus two doctors’ surgeries, a chemist, dentist and optician. Transport links are good and include a Park and Ride.
Leicester Forest East’s Parish Hall hosts Epworth Junior Football Club, Forest Indoor Bowls, Mossdale Cricket Club, a Play Pad, Swimming World and Leicester Forest East Youth Club. Stafford Leys Community Centre, attached to Stafford Leys School, hosts many groups including the Bridge Club, Brownies, Children’s Dance Club, Flower Arranging, Gardening Club, Guides, Judo, Line Dancing, Milap, LFE Group, Monday Club, Pilates, Playgroup, Spanish Club, Stay ‘n’ Play, Wine Circle and Yoga Club. St Andrew’s Church also hosts several local groups and the Scouts. Leicester Forest East Tennis Club are based at Hinckley Road courts.
Local schools are Holmfield Primary School and Stafford Leys Community Primary School. These are feeder schools for South Charnwood High School and Winstanley Community College, although Brookvale Community College.
